Mark Cuban Saved the Greenville St. Patrick's Day Parade: "I Didn't Want to See it Go Away"

Three cheers for Mark Cuban; the man who saved the Annual Lower Greenville St Patty’s Day Parade. The anuual event, out on by the Greenville Avenue Area Business Assocaition, was facing a shortfall of over $40,000 putting this year’s event in serious jeapordy of not happening. And that is when Mark Cuban stepped up and saved the day!!!! GAABA President Jorge Levy reached out to Cuban via email on February 8. He wrote back exactly seven minutes later — “Can’t let it die,” he told Levy — and pledged the full amount. The money’s already in the bank.

“It’s a Dallas tradition that I have really enjoyed,” Cuban told a Dallas Observer via email today. “I didn’t want to see it go away.”

Speaking personally as a Dallasite who has attended the parade and post-parade block party for the last few years, what Cuban did was AWESOME. Dallas does not have as many “unique” events as many major cities, and the St Patrick’s Day parade is one that has always stood out. The crowds grow every year, yet the event still goes off smoothly. Thanks to Cuban’s efforts I have no doubt this year will be no different. I know you will see me walking the street with green beer and shamrock shirt on! Can’t wait!!!!
